Preview: London Irish vs Bath

This weekend’s clash between Bath and London Irish promises to be a big game. Both sides have been suffering for form in their opening fixtures.

London Irish sit second from bottom, yet to pick up any points, and Bath are ninth having only won one of their opening three fixtures.

The game will be played at the Madejski Stadium and with home advantage the Exiles will be hoping to overcome Bath and earn their first points this season. Bath, however, will come out with a point to prove and will be hoping to kickstart their season and gain ground on the league leaders – having finished second last season.

Bath have lost five of their last seven competitive and friendly fixtures while the Exiles have lost eight of their last ten games in all competitions.

In their last meeting, Bath dominated the game emerging as victors in a 43-18 demolition on the way to their second place finish. London Irish will be looking to flip the tables and earn revenge for the loss and inflict yet another defeat onto Bath.

I predict that the game will start out with high intensity but as the match develops Bath should pull away. The quality in their side should see them dominate the game and score several tries.

Score prediction: 35-10 win to Bath.
