Preview: Bath vs Northampton Saints

Gameweek six is upon us and one of this weekend’s biggest clashes is Bath vs Northampton. Last season’s runners-up will be looking to try and improve their recent form. The Saints are in a similar position; they are 10 points adrift of league leaders Saracens and haven’t been in the best form either.

After last season’s outstanding run, Bath will be feeling disappointed that they have not started the current season as brightly. They sit eighth in the table and are 12 points behind Saracens. Despite not having played at their best so far this season, Northampton are still a formidable opponent and so won’t be easy to beat.

Mike Ford’s side will face off against the Saints at the Rec and so can boast their home advantage. However, they will need to find the fight that they showed last year if they are to capitalise in this advantage.

The last time these two sides met, the Saints came away with a 21-13 away victory and so Bath will be out for revenge.

In all honesty, I expect a fierce contest between these two sides. Both will be looking to restore their pride which has been knocked somewhat this season, and the pack will be the most important area for both sides if they want to dominate the game. In the end, I expect that Bath, with their home advantage, will sneak a win in this game – but it will certainly be close.

Score prediction: Bath 18-15 Northampton Saints
