Warriors sign South African International Potgieter

Worcester Warriors have completed the signing of 28-year-old South African international, Dewald Potgieter, from Japan Top League club, Yamaha Jubilo.

The flanker has played six times for the Springboks and has won two South African Super Rugby titles in 2009 and 2010.

Warriors head coach, Dean Ryan, believes Potgieter’s experience at the highest level can help keep Worcester in the Aviva Premiership, after only two wins so far this season.

Dewald’s inclusion in the back row will be of huge benefit to the pack.

Potgieter has spent the past two years playing his rugby in Japan with Top League side Yamaha Jubilo but is now seeking a new challenge, which he is sure to get with the Warriors side sitting in eleventh place, just one point above bottom side Newcastle Falcons.

The new back-rower is expected to be involved with the weekend’s game for the Warriors versus Bath Rugby at Sixways.
