REVEALED: England’s team for the first Test against South Africa

England head coach Eddie Jones has named his starting XV for the first Test in South Africa on Saturday.

Forward Brad Shields is named amongst the replacements, but mercurial fly-half Danny Cipriani misses out.

The 27-year-old Shields is uncapped, and had a long struggle with his Australian domestic team to secure his release in time for the series.

Sale’s Tom Curry starts at flanker, and will collect just his second England cap at the age of 20.

Mike Brown keeps his spot on the wing as Elliot Daly continues to fill in at fullback.

Billy Vunipola returns to the squad after an injury lay-off, joining regular characters in the scrum Maro Itoje, Chris Robshaw, and brother Mako.
