Steve Borthwick has named a squad for a three-day training camp ahead of this summer’s Rugby Nations Championship.
Noah Caluori and Benhard Janse van Rensburg are the big surprises as they could be set for England debuts in the summer.
The squad will be preparing for fixtures against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina.
Noah Caluori is an incredibly exciting edition to the squad after a series of stunning athletic displays in the PREM this season.
Janse van Rensburg and eligibility
Janse van Rensbrug has been an interesting call made by Steve Borthwick as he will only be eligible to play for England ahead of the second match of the series against Fiji. The 29-year-old moved to England in 2021, when he moved to London Irish, before moving to the Bristol Bears in 2023. He represented the Baby Boks (South Africa’s Under-20 team) once in 2016.
He becomes eligible for England this summer based on residency grounds, having lived and played in the country for five years.
England’s Six Nations struggles
England had their worst Six Nations since it became a six-team competition in 2000. They won their opener against Wales and then failed to pick up a win after that.
