Glasgow had been on a difficult run going into the final two games of their URC campaign. They had a difficult tour of South Africa, where they were beaten by 36 or more points in both games. In the last round, they needed a win over Ulster to ensure they finished top. They led 21-12 at halftime, but two tremendous Ulster tries left them one point behind with just over 10 minutes to go. Kyle Rowe scored in the corner with a few minutes to go, and they were able to hold on for the final few minutes to secure top spot.
